Luna and sol

I have been very interested in the idea of the sun and the moon being two people caught in a forbidden love, rarely being able to see each other. My first iteration of this concept was “When The Sun Met The Moon” where the sun and moon were reborn as guardian warriors. I wanted to revisit this concept with a softer more feminine approach. I had the idea that there was a sun and a moon fairy that help keep order on the earth. They would only be able to see each other in passing at dawn and at dusk. Often times media depicts forbidden love as painful with lots of yearning and sorrow but I wanted to capture the awe and excitement of seeing someone precious, even if it is just for a moment. In this illustration Luna and Sol get to reunite for a brief moment. Mesmerized by each others beauty and blinded by unconditional love, they treasure the brief moment together.
